<\/p>\nDavid Wingerson is a successful music educator, with expertise in percussion, choir, arranging, and leadership. He holds a Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, TX) and Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Washburn University (Topeka, KS). While teaching publicly he continues to develop as a performer and pedagog, with future goals of completing related doctorate studies.<\/p>\n
David has been a member of a number of honorary academic organizations (Mortar Board; Alpha Lambda Delta) and was awarded a Helen DeVitt Jones Graduate Fellowship at Texas Tech University for his academic achievements and his contributions to the Lubbock and Topeka communities. He also received the notable Bryden, Richey, and Garvey scholarships at Washburn, as well as scholarships from both the Music and Education Departments at Washburn and Tech.<\/p>\n
Additionally, David served as president of the Washburn Association of Bands for three years and was the main student organizer for a Sousa Spectacular Joplin Benefit<\/em> in the fall of 2011, helping to re-establish Joplin High School\u2019s music library. He has been a stage manager, librarian and counselor for the world-class Sunflower Music Festival since 2010, and an educator and counselor for the Northeast Kansas Total Percussion Camp.<\/p>\n He was an ensemble member with the Washburn Percussion Collective, an honors percussion ensemble, which was featured in numerous concerts and Grace Cathedral\u2019s annual Great Spaces<\/em> performing arts series in 2011. He has served as principal percussionist in a number of ensembles and was a featured soloist with the Washburn Wind Ensemble and the Washburn Orchestra, as well as Texas Tech University\u2019s Percussion Ensemble. David was also selected from the finest small college musicians as the principal percussionist of the Small College Intercollegiate Band, at the College Band Directors National Association Conference in 2011.<\/p>\n In the realm of solo playing, David received a opportunity to play in honors recitals, playing his own published arrangement of \u201cSuite Castellana,\u201d for marimba. As a composer and arranger he has written a number of drumline cadences and show books, and has created three works for choir in the modern pop style, all of which have been purchased and\/or performed by high schools and universities in the Midwest. He plans to begin the publication process for these works soon.<\/p>\n As a man of faith, David served as an interim worship leader for Covenant Baptist Church (2013) and was a choral scholar at Grace Episcopal Cathedral from 2006 through 2009. He continues to serve and play actively at Redeemer Church, Lubbock, TX, leading a Gospel Community and playing in the praise band. He gratefully remembers ample opportunities to grow in character and leadership in his youth, and as an Eagle Scout proudly follows Scouting\u2019s mantras of \u201cOh my honor, I will do my best\u2026\u201d and \u201cBe prepared\u201d.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>David writes, \u201cMy education and teaching experience has provided me with innumerable real and applicable opportunities that will have a direct impact on my continued studies and career as a musician and music educator.
